Oswego Health Enhances Emergency Department Security With New Weapons Detection Technology

Oswego Health has taken a significant step forward in enhancing hospital safety with the installation of the Ceia OpenGate Weapons Detection System at the Oswego Hospital Emergency Department, which is now officially operational as of May 27. This cutting-edge technology is designed to efficiently screen individuals, along with their backpacks, purses, and bags, for a wide array of metal threats, including high-caliber assault weapons.
This critical security investment was made possible through a $175,000 grant previously secured by former New York State Senator John Mannion, a dedicated advocate for community safety and healthcare innovation.
The Ceia OpenGate system provides a seamless and non-invasive screening experience, enabling high throughput and minimal disruption during emergency room entry. Its advanced detection capabilities enhance Oswego Health’s commitment to providing a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
