Employee Spotlight: Mark Heitmann — Giving Back from the Heart

At Oswego Health, we’re proud to recognize team members who not only deliver exceptional care but also give back in meaningful ways. This month, we’re shining a light on Mark Heitmann, a Multi-Modality Technologist at our Central Square Medical Center, for his unwavering support of the Employee Giving Campaign and his lasting commitment to both our mission and the community we serve.

Mark’s story with Oswego Health began in 1991, and his dedication hasn’t wavered. After taking time away to focus on raising adopted twins with his partner, Margaret, Mark returned in 2012 to help open the Central Square Medical Center — a facility he proudly helped shape in the town he’s always called home.

In his day-to-day role, Mark is a highly skilled technologist specializing in CT scans, radiography, and bone densitometry. But it’s what he contributes beyond the clinical setting that truly sets him apart. Mark has been a passionate supporter of the Employee Giving Campaign, driven by his belief in Oswego Health’s mission and the impact local healthcare can have.

“It’s important to show the community that we support our organization — because we believe in it,” says Mark. “If we don’t believe in ourselves, how can we expect the community to?”

Mark sees participation in the campaign not as a financial decision, but a personal one.

“Think about it — giving the equivalent of one hour of pay is a small gesture, but it shows commitment,” he explains. “We spend more than that on coffee each week. Why not use that to help Oswego Health invest in better equipment or enhance patient care? It just makes sense.”

Mark’s spirit of giving doesn’t stop there. A longtime volunteer in the Scouting community, he also dedicates his time to the Order of the Eastern Star, where he serves as co-chair of the board for the Eastern Star Home Nursing Home. His philosophy is simple: support the causes you believe in with both time and resources.

“Have pride in your work,” he says. “Oswego Health isn’t just where we work — it’s a family, it’s a community. And when you believe in that, you show up for it.”

Join Mark — and show your support.

Participation in the Employee Giving Campaign isn’t about the dollar amount — it’s about showing belief in our shared mission and investing in the future of care right here in our region.
