A Life-Saving Connection: When One Oswego Health Employee Trusted Another

At Oswego Health, we believe that compassionate, attentive care isn’t just a value—it’s a lifeline. This belief was powerfully affirmed when Kelley O’Hora, a dedicated school-based counselor at Hannibal High School and Oswego Health employee, found herself in a medical crisis. Her story is a testament to the life-saving impact of trusting your care team—and the deep connections that define our organization.

A Week of Uncertainty

Kelley had been battling severe illness for nearly a week. Despite a visit to the Emergency Room, where she underwent CT scans and blood work, no clear diagnosis emerged. Her symptoms worsened, and her results were sent to her Primary Care Provider, Justin Beebe, FNP-C, at Fulton PrimeCare North.

That’s when everything changed.

Listening That Saves Lives

“Justin made sure to follow up that day,” Kelley recalls. “He listened to me and found that something was seriously wrong—something that could have been life-threatening if left untreated.”

After reviewing her scans, Justin identified a dangerous blockage in Kelley’s small and large intestines. He acted swiftly, ordering a colonoscopy prep kit and instructing Kelley to begin treatment immediately. His quick thinking and deep understanding of her health history helped her avoid an invasive procedure—or worse.

More Than a Provider—A Lifeline

Even before this critical moment, Kelley says she always felt truly seen and heard by Justin.

“Even during regular checkups, he knows me—he knows when I’m feeling myself and when I’m not. Justin is my provider, and I’m proud to say that. I trust him with my life.”

Kelley became Justin’s patient in 2023, shortly after he joined PrimeCare North. As a fellow Oswego Health team member for three years, she didn’t hesitate to entrust her care to someone who shares the same commitment to excellence.

Living the “We Care” Mantra

This story is a powerful reminder of what our We Care mantra truly means. It’s about connection, trust, and putting patients first—whether they’re members of our community or part of our Oswego Health family.

Thank you, Justin, for the exceptional care you provide every day and for embodying the heart of Oswego Health.

It’s one thing to work here—it’s another to experience firsthand the care and compassion we talk about every day.
