Biography

Dr. Mohammad Fahad Ali has experience treating various gastroenterology diseases and has a special interest in GI motility and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Prior to joining Oswego Health, he has worked at the Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, where he served as the Chair of the Department of Medicine and the Chief of Endoscopy since 2021.

Earning his medical degree at SUNY Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine in 2012, Dr. Ali completed his post-graduate training along with Chief Residency and Fellowship at the New York University Langone Hospital in Long Island. He served as a Trainee in the GI Motility Laboratory of Temple University Lewis Katz School of Medicine in Philadelphia as well. He earned his Bachelors in Biological Sciences from Columbia University in 2006.

Dr. Ali is triple board-certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He is an elected Fellow of both the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) and the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG). He is a Past President of the Cortland County Medical Society. He is also a member of the American College of Gastroenterology’s DEI Committee and was on their Research Committee from 2022-2024. In October 2024, Dr. Ali received the American College of Gastroenterology’s Social Media Acumen Award and in 2021, the ACG recognized him as a Young Physician Leadership Scholar. Additionally, Dr. Ali has been accepted into the Doximity Digital Health Fellow Program for 2025, a year-long program for physicians who want to establish themselves as a digital health thought leader and champion digital health innovation. Doximity is the largest online network of healthcare professionals in the country.

Since 2013 he has published several research and scholarly articles in high-impact journals like American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and Endoscopy International Open and maintains his own Medical Blog, Musings on Medicine.
