The Saint Agatha Foundation has awarded the Oswego Health Foundation with a grant of $75,860 to support the purchase of the most advanced software packages that will reduce appointment and interpretation wait times for patients needing breast imaging.
Providing financial assistance to individuals in CNY who are afflicted with breast cancer, the Saint Agatha Foundation is dedicated to providing support, comfort, and care to breast cancer patients through financial assistance programs. The Saint Agatha Foundation provides support, allowing patients to focus on their treatment, not their bills.
Board Chair, Kathleen Mezzalingua, states, “The Saint Agatha Foundation is pleased to provide funding for software mammography upgrades, ensuring access to state-of-the-art technology for patients in Oswego County. For the past fifteen years, Saint Agatha Foundation has been a provider of funds to Oswego Health, providing cancer patients with financial assistance for not only medical but personal bills to ease the burden of a breast cancer diagnosis. We are pleased to carry on the legacy that my daughter, Laurie Mezzalingua established when she founded the Saint Agatha Foundation.”
Continually seeking opportunities to update technology centered around patient care, the Oswego Health Foundation, which raises and manages philanthropic support for the nonprofit healthcare system, sought support from the Saint Agatha Foundation to upgrade to the most advanced software packages, two 3DQuorumTM Imaging Technology, and one QuantraTM Technology. Oswego Health currently has several Hologic 3D Dimensions, sophisticated mammogram units that provide three-dimensional, high-resolution images, which are then individually read by a team of Radiologists and used for detecting, monitoring, and managing breast cancer. This new software upgrade will improve technology that will assist the Radiologists in reads. Reducing appointment and interpretation wait times, will help remove some barriers to and reduce the stress of care access and management.
Margaret Barclay, Executive Director of the Oswego Health Foundation explains, “Just as the Saint Agatha Foundation helps breast cancer patients focus on their care, this new software upgrade will encourage and allow our patients to access all relevant care needs here within the Oswego Health system, where we know that we can also connect them with the other wonderful support programs that we provide and help coordinate care.”
