At Oswego Health, employees go above and beyond in supporting the organization's mission to provide accessible, quality healthcare to the community. Through the 2024 Employee Giving Campaign, staff members have again shown their commitment and care, with 352 employees contributing an extraordinary $77,452.86 to support the Oswego Health Foundation.

The Employee Giving Campaign, also known internally as “We are the Foundation,” is an annual initiative allowing employees to contribute directly to projects and priorities within Oswego Health, impacting their colleagues and the broader community they serve.

“The support we received from our employees is nothing short of inspiring,” said Billy Barlow, Vice President of Public Affairs & System Development and Co-Chair of the Employee Giving Campaign. “It is a true testament to the deep care and belief our staff has in the work we do every day. They give their time, energy, and financial support to ensure our community receives the best possible care."

The funds raised during the 2024 campaign directly impacted numerous vital initiatives, including:

  • Comfort Cubs – Therapeutic weighted bear given to grieving mothers who experience the loss of their baby in the Women’s Services Department.
  • Pop-it Balls—Fidget balls for children and adults to ease anxiety while having blood drawn.
  • Buzzy Bees – Ice packs that vibrate and reduce needle pain and stress during blood draws or needle sticks.
  • Pediatric Care Project—Items like blankets, bears, hygiene products, and toys will comfort and support children in the emergency department.
  • Active Shooter Training – A comprehensive training program for all 1,400+ employees to prepare for potential threats and keep the community safe.
  • Inflatable Colon – An educational tool to raise awareness about colon cancer and the importance of early detection.
  • Medical Debt Payment—Funds are directed to pay off medical debt for pediatric patients at the Center for Mental Health and Wellness for Youth in Fulton, ensuring children receive the care they need without the burden of unpaid bills.

“Every year, we see the heart and soul of our organization reflected in the generosity of our employees,” Barlow added. “This year, the impact of their contributions will be felt not only by our patients but by our entire community, helping to strengthen the foundation of the care we provide.”

The Employee Giving Committee - made up of individuals from all across the healthcare system - includes passionate leaders such as Co-Chairs Billy Barlow and Judy Walsh, alongside Jennifer Baker, Margaret Barclay, Joy Bifera, Nancy Blais, Linda Cole, Heather Davis, Kristen Denick, Gail Dodski, Casey Donovan, Heather Dunsmoor, Jennifer Fassano, Theresa FitzGibbons, Kate Gentile, Christine Hanley, Michele Hourigan, Rebecca Kimberly, Liam Martin, Megan McManus, Kelly Montagna, Yvonne Rieckhoff, Michelle Rockwood, Monica Rupert, Cheryl Stilwell, Cindy Tascarella, Jennifer Torrese, and Laurie VonHoltz, who work tirelessly to ensure that every dollar raised goes toward making a meaningful difference.

In a world where the workplace often feels transactional, the employees of Oswego Health show that it’s about much more than a paycheck. It’s about believing in the mission, caring for others, and making a lasting impact together.
