The public is invited to join with residents of Springside at Seneca Hill on Thursday, November 21 at 1:00 for a presentation by Bob Coant, Volney town historian, on the origins of the ghost of Seneca Hill. The program with light refreshments is free of charge and Springside is fully handicapped accessible.

Anyone who lives in this area and hasn’t seen the ghost in the towns of Volney or Minetto, may come to this presentation and learn about what they have been missing. Historian Coant, recently appointed town historian — a dream come true, has been studying this phenomenon as well as the more conventional aspects of Volney town history with much interest and commitment. A lifelong resident of Volney and now retired from Armstrong World Industries, he enjoys spending more time with his family and his study of local and Civil War history. He is working on a book that will document the history of the 6,000-resident town of Volney from its inception to the present day.

Springside at Seneca Hill is located at 10 County Route 45A, Oswego, NY 13126. Turn west onto County Route 45 from Route 481, take the first left, then the first right.

Springside is an independent living residential community for seniors 55 or older who can take care of all their personal needs but who want to free themselves of the responsibilities of maintaining a house. Fully accessible apartments, duplexes, and cottages are available, along with a variety of services including prepared restaurant-style dinners served by trained staff in the formally appointed dining room where casual attire prevails, housekeeping, laundry, lawn care, snow removal, garages, and maintenance services, depending upon the options chosen. Most residents find it considerably less expensive and much less stress and work than maintaining a private house.

Information is available and tours of Springside may be arranged by calling 315-343-5658 to schedule an appointment.
