City of Fulton Proclaims February as American Heart Health Month

Whereas the health and well-being of our citizens are of paramount importance to the City of Fulton, New York, and the preservation of public health is an ongoing priority for our community and
Whereas heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, affecting millions of Americans each year, with one in four deaths attributed to cardiovascular conditions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and
Whereas nearly half of all American adults have some form of cardiovascular disease, and it is a health challenge that requires awareness, prevention, and action across all age groups, races, and ethnicities and
Whereas, February is recognized nationally as American Heart Health Month, a time to focus on raising awareness about heart disease, educating individuals on the steps they can take to maintain a healthy heart, and encouraging healthier lifestyles that reduce risk factors and
Whereas, the City of Fulton is committed to advancing public health through collaboration with local organizations such as Oswego Health and the Center for Cardiology, who provide vital services to our community and work tirelessly to promote heart health education and prevention and
Whereas, in partnership with Oswego Health and the Center for Cardiology, the City of Fulton will engage in activities throughout the month of February to raise awareness, provide resources, and encourage residents to take proactive steps toward improving their heart health, including offering screenings, fitness challenges, and educational events;
Now, therefore, I, Mayor's Rice Mayor of the City of Fulton, New York, do hereby proclaim the month of February 2025 as American Heart Health Month in the City of Fulton and urge all citizens to join in the efforts to reduce the risk of heart disease, support the well-being of our community, and take an active role in living healthier, heart-strong lives.
