Michael Carey obtained his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo, graduating, Summa Cum Laude. While attending Oswego High School, Carey was a volunteer at Oswego Hospital, which piqued his interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. He was a member of Le Moyne College’s American Academy of PAs National Medical Knowledge Challenge Bowl Team and was honored with the Donald DeMott Outstanding Community Service Award, while at Geneseo. This award recognizes a senior student whose college career has been characterized by an unusually strong commitment to volunteer work, and who has made a significant contribution to the efforts of a volunteer organization. He was a volunteer medic for the Geneseo Fire Department, a SUNY Geneseo First Responder and a student driver for the college’s SART Program.
