Frequently Asked Questions

If I already had COVID-19 should I still get my booster dose?

Yes, you should be vaccinated regardless of whether you already had COVID-19 because research has not yet shown how long you are protected from getting the virus again after recovering. You may receive a booster as soon as you are released from quarantine and your symptoms have resolved after having COVID-19.

Should I receive the same vaccine type that I received in my primary series or can I decide which type to get?

You can receive a different type of booster than your primary series as long as you are eligible for that type.

If we need a booster does that mean the vaccines aren't working?

No, the vaccines are working very well at preventing severe disease, hospitalization, and death even against widely circulating variants. It is normal for a vaccine's protection to wane over time and booster doses will help maximize protection, prolong the vaccine's durability, and keep people healthy and safe.

Can I get a COVID booster and a flu vaccine at the same time?

Yes, you may receive a COVID vaccine and any other vaccine at the same time or even on the same day.
