Oswego Health, in collaboration with Menter Oswego County Ambulance Service, will host an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training Day May 17th beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the Joint Information Center, located at 10 Airport Drive, near the Oswego County Airport.
The full-day event provides EMS providers with pertinent education required to maintain their certification. “EMS providers work many hours,” said Dana Oliver, Paramedic and Oswego County Ambulance Service Director of Operations. “The EMS Training Day allows them to receive eight hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) in a single day.”
EMS Day will feature several of the area’s finest medical professionals that will discuss information on several emergency services protocols and procedures. The morning presentations will include mechanical ventilation, with a surgical airway lab presented by Scott Glick, MD, an Oswego Hospital emergency room physician, and neurological emergencies offered by Upstate Medical University’s Stroke Services staff, including Hesham Masoud, MD, and Coordinator Joshua Onyan.
The afternoon presentations will include respiratory emergencies by Anthony Ascioti, MD, Oswego Health anesthesiologist; and cardiac emergencies, by Thomas Grady Jr., MD, Oswego Health cardiologist.
The EMS Training Day is open to all emergency medical providers. The deadline for registration is Monday, May 8th. Interested EMS may register online at www.cnyems.org Anyone with questions should call Mentor Oswego County Ambulance Service at 315-592-4145, or Oswego Health at 315-349-5500.
