Originally from NYC, this surgical PA and family medicine provider finds the work-life balance and small community charm, perfect for their family.
Dr. Vandana Patil joined the organization in 2013 and her decision to move was influenced by her extended family. Three uncles and one aunt had spent most of their careers working for Oswego Health’s Mental Health team. So when an opportunity in PrimeCare arose for Vandana, she felt confident in her decision and moved her husband, Rahul, and their two children to be closer to her family in Baldwinsville. Over the years, she has built a robust family medicine practice with Oswego Health.
While studying at Upstate to become a physician assistant, Rahul Shinde did his clinical rotations in the emergency room at Oswego Hospital. It’s there that his passion for orthopedics grew. In 2016, Oswego Health was fortunate to have Rahul join the team as a surgical PA. You’ll often find him assisting our orthopedic surgeons in the OR, but Rahul is always willing to jump in and assist with any case!
When asked, why Oswego Health, they both agreed that it’s the culture, community, and collaborative team environment that reaffirms their decision.
Leadership is very understanding and accommodating and with two children, Rahul and Vandana can easily coordinate and align their schedules so they can be mom & dad.
They also shared that they love the work-family they each have and the fact that everyone knows who they are here.
