Care Unit Second Floor
Oswego Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit provides care to the most critical patients. A highly trained and compassionate staff offers that care in a recently renovated facility that has the latest in technology.
While in the ICU, our patients receive around the clock care and monitoring by our nurses, physicians, therapists and technicians. The nursing staff is available 24 hours a day to answer your questions. If for some reason they are unable to answer your questions, they will contact someone who can.
Our ICU has eight large private rooms that allow space for our staff and any advanced equipment needs. When visiting your family member in the ICU, you may feel overwhelmed by the amount of equipment and the noises. This equipment is designed to aid in providing the best possible care to our patients. The nursing staff will be happy to explain the purpose of the equipment. Please feel free to ask questions.
We allow the patient’s spouse or significant other to visit 24 hours a day. We ask that immediate family only visit during the regular ICU visiting hours, which are 11am to 2pm and 6 to 8 pm. Immediate family members are considered to be parents, brothers, sisters, and the patient’s children, who are older than age 16.
All ICU visitors should please stop at the nurses desk before visiting to see their loved one. We ask that no more than two visitors be at the patient’s bedside at a time. The length of each visit should be determined primarily be the condition of the patient.
While the nursing staff’s first concern is the patient, they are here to help family members of the patient as well. It is recommended that one family member act as the spokesperson and be responsible for relaying ICU patient information to other family members.
Family members can use the ICU waiting room, which is located on the hospital’s second floor, just outside the unit. Upon exiting the ICU, take a right and walk down the hall through the set of double wooden doors. The ICU waiting room is on your right. There are restrooms near the waiting room.
