Lorraine Ladd-Falanga Joins Mexico Health Center
Mexico native Lorraine Ladd-Falanga, a family nurse practitioner, joined the staff at the Mexico Health Services Center in June.
Ladd-Falanga earned her Master’s degree/Family Nurse Practitioner degree from Upstate Medical University. She also earned her Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) from Upstate and obtained her registered nursing degree from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Syracuse.
“It was nice to have an opportunity to come back home and work, where I can care for residents in the community in which I was born and raised,” Ladd-Falanga said. Most recently, she had worked in an emergency room of a Syracuse hospital.
Ladd-Falanga initially began her nursing career as a certified nursing assistant before earning her licensed practical nursing degree. She decided to pursue a nursing career after reading a book on the field that described nurses are compassionate care givers. “I thought what a wonderful gift nurses have, to provide care and to help alleviate patient’s worries when faced with medical issues,” Ladd-Falanga said.
At the health center, she will work alongside Thomas Hanna, MD, delivering care to patients.
The new Mexico staff member and her husband, have two daughters, one of which is about to follow in her mother’s footsteps and begin nursing school. The couple also has three grandsons. In her spare time, Ladd-Falanga enjoys her flower gardens, power walking, photography, and reading.
