Physical Therapist Julie Bloom to Oversee Central Square Medical Center Rehab Dept.
Julie Bloom, who holds a doctorate of physical therapy, will oversee the rehabilitation department at Oswego Health’s recently opened Central Square Medical Center.
“I am very thrilled to have this opportunity,” Bloom said. “For the past six years I have worked in an outpatient clinic setting and to be responsible for the operation of a new rehabilitation center is exciting.”
In addition to her experience, Bloom is certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy of the Spine (MDT) through the McKenzie Institute. The MDT is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education for those with back, neck and extremity problems. An evidence-based approach, MDT uses effective assessment tools that lead to an accurate diagnosis and an appropriate treatment plan. “I am able to provide a more effective treatment plan and have found that patients get better much faster using this proven method,” Bloom said.
In addition to her MDT certification, she has extensive education in vestibular and balance rehab.
Bloom earned her Doctorate and Masters of Physical Therapy at D’Youville College in Buffalo. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Bloomsburg College, located in Bloomsburg, PA, where she also ran track and cross country.
The new physical therapy department at the Central Square Medical Center opened on October 1st. The spacious department features comfortable individual treatment areas for physical, occupational and speech therapy needs. The department has a well-equipped gym that includes the latest in spinal decompression therapy for those suffering from pain in the lower back or neck.
Parking is conveniently located near the ground floor entrance. For more information on the department, call 668-5230.
In addition to a complete rehabilitation department, the Central Square Medical Center, located at 3045 East Avenue, offers urgent care, lab and medical imaging. The Center can be reached by calling 668-5212.
